System Studies are carried out by experienced Power System Protection Specialists utilising the latest issue of the EDSA suite of software. Design Studies can be undertaken on both existing and proposed Power Systems.
The execution of a System Study often follows the following format:
- Initial Site Survey
- Modelling of the Electrical System
- Calculation and Analysis
- Issuing of Master Protection Guide
Because of our extensive use and knowledge of the EDSA software we have in some instances provided this software along with training to the client after a study has been conducted. Having both the 'system model' and the software package on which it was created allows the customer to experiment with different system configurations to further understand their system in greater detail.
This can been used as a precursor to any change in switching practices or operations to understand the fault level risk and arc flash hazard and therefore the requirement for personal protective equipment (PPE).
The model can also be useful in determining power flows, short circuit and fault levels for temporary connections or abnormal interconnection between switchboards.
