Interlocked Earths
This equipment is for providing temporary earth bonds
between overhead catenary or contact conductors and earthed rail sections
or recognised earthing points.
The equipment has been specially enhanced in order to
address the potentially fatal procedure of removing the equipment in the
incorrect order from service. To ensure that the Line End clamp is removed
prior to the earth potential clamp it incorporates a special key which
must be used to remove the earth end clamp. The tamperproof lock arrangement
is an integral part of both clamps and up to 18 combinations are provided,
to deter 'master keys' being used to fool the system. Both clamps are
in current use and have had RAILTRACK approval for a considerable time.
CE63 (J117-NSE) Earth End Clamp
Steel fabricated clamp for application to all rail
types, steel framework and earthing points. The clamping arrangement is
fitted with springs to ensure secure location. All components are plated
to provide adequate protection on site.
The J117-NSE clamp has been re-designated CE63 to ease
identification of the interlocked clamp. The clamp has a special operating
screw fitted with a free rotating collar to prevent tampering.
Interconnecting Lead
50mm2 Arctic grade Aluflex lead with
blue pvc insulation. Fitted with aluminium palm type compression terminations
and clear pvc stress relieving sleeves.
S9BI Line End Clamp
The S9BI clamp is made from aluminium alloy with
stainless steel fasteners. Suitable for application by type S9D operating
socket.
Insulated Operating Poles
Glass fibre insulated poles with open weave handgrip
bonded to the lower section of the pole. Available in standard sections
of 4 feet with machined joints to provide rigid assembly by double sided
snap action spring loaded locking device. Should be fitted with S9D type
light alloy operating socket which supports the clamp during application
to the line. The socket is then used to rotate the operating screw of
the line end clamp to secure to the line.
